Genopsys Secures Antibody Engineering Patent

SOQUEL, California, October 7, 2003 - Genopsys, Inc. today announced that the company has been issued a new patent that is directed to the optimization of binding affinity, binding specificity, stability, and other critical characteristics associated with antibodies or antibody-like proteins in research, diagnostics, and therapeutic applications. The patent extends Genopsys’ proprietary idsPCR™ / SCRAM™ technology that has the potential to deliver improved functional properties over traditional diversity technologies. Genopsys has pioneered these technologies to enhance the function of genes though the creation of novel mutations to produce optimized proteins. Specifically the patent includes claims directed to Genopsys proprietary discovery and evolution tools, which are the key platforms for Genopsys’ business focused on biomedical applications of optimized proteins.

"The issuance of this patent represents important continuing expansion of Genopsys' intellectual property portfolio, providing access to state of the art protein engineering capabilities. The patent validates our discovery and evolution tool platform in biotechnology,” stated Eric Lietz, Ph.D., Genopsys' President.
